Invitation to Launch of National Wind Monitoring Program for Community Windfarms
10th Jul 2015

New England Wind would like to invite you to attend the launch the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage funded wind monitoring program for New England Wind.

In addition, NEW has been able to leverage this project, through our partnership with Embark Australia, into a national wind monitoring program for community windfarms. This program is to officially be launched in New England where monitoring will also begin.

This initiative involves use of a new state-of-the-art SODAR wind monitoring unit. The unit has been purchased by Embark Australia on behalf of the community windfarm sector and is available for hire and use by individual projects. NEW is the first project to hire the unit at the beginning of what is likely to be a ten year program supporting projects right across the country.

We would welcome your support to be at the launch where the SODAR equipment will be on display.

Speakers will include:

Adam Marshall - NSW Member of Parliament for Northern Tablelands

Laurie Bishop - Mayor of Armidale Dumaresq Council

Dr Christopher Blanksby - Technical Director of New England Wind

Adam Blakester | Project Director of New England Wind

The launch event is booked for 10:30am on Wednesday 22 July 2015 at Curtis Park, Armidale, beside the Visitors' Info Centre carpark.

NEW would appreciate some assistance from volunteers to help with setting up the site for the launch. If you are able to help, please call Bar Finch on 67 724 667.
